Fortunately, JB has dog-friendly spots where you and your dog can enjoy fresh air, beautiful views, and plenty of space to explore.
For starters, look at your own residence. If you are deciding on where to rent or buy JB properties, it will be important to narrow down specific locations where pet dogs are allowed.
This is because there are certain laws that come with certain property titles that affect pet ownership. For e.g. many strata-titled properties in Johor have by-laws that prohibit or restrict dog ownership. In contrast freehold landed properties do not have such restrictions at all.
Some strata management corporations (SMCs) may allow dog ownership, but with certain conditions. Such as: obtaining prior approval from the SMC, paying a pet deposit or fee, ensuring the dog is well-behaved and does not disturb other residents. Or, complying with specific rules regarding dog size, breed, and noise levels. In addition, some SMCs may also require dog owners to provide proof of liability insurance for their pets.

Many of these places of residence also come with parks within its compounds that you can walk and play with your dogs. In fact, some of the residences are so pet-friendly, they even build dog parks too. These places tend to have more Caucasians as residents as well as being gated and guarded.

E.g. include Bukit Tiz in Seri Alam, Puteri Harbor area. If you want to venture further, Bukit Banang at Batu Pahat or Gunung Lambak at Kluang.

Of course, no outing with your dog is complete without a visit to a dog-friendly cafe or restaurant. Johor Bahru has a small number of spots where both you and your dog can enjoy a meal together.

The owner of the cafè also have a dog. She sympathizes with fellow pet owners who cannot find JB places where they can hang out with the pet dogs. Even worse, leaving their dogs in the cars under the hot sun which is hot and stuffy.
As such, the cafè welcomes pets and pet owners to dine in together with their dogs. I hope to continue to support them since they are so hard to come by!
